Following Savoie Rumilly Rugby Club's memorable 2018-2019 season, EC International Group and CEO Jérémy Duchoud are very proud of the results of the Fédérale 2 rugby championship final this Sunday, June 23. The match was played in at the Arnas stadium in Villefranche-sur-Sâone, in the Rhône. Although RCSR came away from the match as vice-champions, the club has not lost any of EC International Group's esteem, quite the opposite!
Even though "the Red and the Black" lost 30-32 to US Issoire Rugby in the last minutes of the game, RCSR demonstrated power and control by dominating its opponent throughout the match.
Our Haut-Savoyards scored in the first minutes of the game then stretched their lead to 11-0. They stayed ahead of Issoire right to the last try and five minutes before the final whistle were still in front at 30-29. But a penalty in the very last seconds of the match saw the victory go to US Issoire Rugby with a final score of 30-32 to their favour.
Although this second place in the Fédérale 2 French championship may feel a little bitter for RCSR, Duchoud feels the players have nothing to regret.
Don't forget the club was one of the favourites from the start of the season. The players consistently showed strong game play against first-rate teams, especially in the quarter finals against RC Chateaurenard when RCSR, seen as an outsider, surprised the crowds with a 34-18 win!
EC International Group is more than even a strong supporter of RCSR, whose step up to Fédérale 1 next year bodes well for an exciting 2019-2020 season.
